[Discussion] 12 Sisters? All Missing??

So, ngl Rantaro's backstory was the one that took me out the narrative of V3 the most. Yes not even Gonta "jk about the wolves I was raised by reptoids" took me out as much as Rnataro losing 12 sisters did. I've grown on it a bit, but its still quite ubsurd that Rantaro's parents would let him still after his sisters after losing the 3rd one.

Either that or Rantaro's parents wanted the sisters gone for whatever reason & let them go missing* on purpose, as [tumblr.com profile] imperfectapollo suggested to me. Which could add a layer why Rantaro doesn't really speak about them.

I'm sure in canon, Tsumugi was just being overly dramatic in her writing of Rantaro's backstory. But I'm curious what explanations you could come up for in AUs where Rantaro actually has 12 sisters.

Personally, I like to think of it more in a metaphorical sense than a literal one. Rather than losing his sisters on vacation, for one reason or another he "loses" them in the sense that his womanizing father keeps marrying and divorcing, and these woman all happen to have daughters of their own, which they then take with them when they leave.

The amount of detail regarding the reason this keeps happening I'll leave up to others' interpretation, as my own idea of why this goes down and why Rantaro loses contact with his sisters after their mothers take them away, causing him to have to search for them like he does, is kind of on the more fucked up side.

It's another headcanon I share with [personal profile] luck4hope, as a lot of our Amami headcanons are shared!

Well, let's just say that there's a reason every woman this man marries has a 9 year old daughter, and when they catch wise and leave, they understandably don't want to be found. Rantaro does his best to protect his sisters in the time they're there, but he comes off pretty scary in his own right while doing so.

And yeah, you could say that! [personal profile] luck4hope and I are very close indeed.
